Welcome to MusikConnect ("we", "our", or "us"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "App").
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us, including:
- Account information: name, email address, password, and role (musician, instructor, studio owner, or listener).
- Profile information: biography, instruments, location, profile photo, and social media links.
- Listing content: photos, descriptions, prices, and contact details you add for instruments, studios, services, courses, or events.
- Messages: content of messages exchanged between users through the App.
- Currency preference: your preferred display currency.
We also collect information automatically:
- Location data: approximate or precise location (only when you grant permission) to show nearby studios, musicians, and listings.
- Device information: device type, operating system version, and app version.
- Usage data: screens visited, features used, and interaction patterns to improve the App.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account.
- Display your profile and listings to other users.
- Enable communication between users (e.g. Contact Seller, session bookings).
- Show nearby content based on your location.
- Send transactional emails such as email verification and password reset links.
- Display relevant advertisements via Google AdMob.
- Process subscription payments via Apple In-App Purchase and RevenueCat.
- Improve, analyse, and personalise the App experience.
- Comply with legal obligations.
3. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We may share information with:
- Other users: profile information and listing details you make public are visible to other App users.
- Firebase (Google): for authentication, database storage, and file storage. Google Privacy Policy.
- Google AdMob: for serving advertisements. Google Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat: for managing in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
- EmailJS: for sending transactional emails. EmailJS Privacy Policy.
- Law enforcement or legal process: if required by law or to protect our rights.
4. Camera & Photo Library Access
The App requests access to your camera and photo library solely to allow you to upload profile photos and images for your listings. We do not access your camera or photos without your action. Photos are stored securely via Firebase Storage and are only shown in the context you upload them.
5. Location Access
We request location permission to show you nearby studios, musicians, instruments, and events. Location data is used in real time and is not stored on our servers beyond what is needed to display relevant results. You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings.
6. Microphone Access
The App may request microphone access for future audio features. We do not record or transmit audio without your explicit action. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.
7. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions
MusikConnect offers optional paid subscriptions ("Pro") processed through Apple In-App Purchase. Payment and billing data are handled entirely by Apple and RevenueCat — we never see or store your payment card details. Subscription management (cancellation, renewal) is handled through your Apple ID account settings.
8. Advertising
We use Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve personalised or non-personalised ads in accordance with Google's privacy policy. Pro subscribers may receive an ad-free experience.
9. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at the email below. Some data may be retained where required by law or for legitimate business purposes.
10. Children's Privacy
MusikConnect is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
11. Security
We use industry-standard security measures including Firebase's encryption in transit and at rest. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.
12. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Data portability.
